a natural and free treatment for candida albicans yeast infection?

Q.

A. One positive aspect of using apple cider vinegar as a means of treating the infection is the fact that vinegar naturally gets rid of odor. Make the mixture by adding two tablespoons of apple cider vinegar to two quarts of boiled filtered water. You can douche with this mixture twice a day. You may consider adding two cups of pure apple cider vinegar to a hot bath and sitting in the bath water for at least 20 to 30 minutes. Open the lips of your vagina and allow the warm medicinal water to enter into the infected area.

Are there any good and effective natural cures/ treatments for yeast infections?
Q.

A. Natural yoghurt

Want to know a natural treatment for yeast infection?
Q.

A. Things which can kill good pro-biotic bacteria include:

* Anti-biotics
* Birth Control Pills
* Steroidal/hormonal drugs
* Fluoride
* Chlorine
* Coffee/Tea/Carbonated Drinks
* Synthetic vitamins
* Radiation
* Stress
* Additives
* Pesticides
* Fertilisers

The best way to prvent thrush is to regularlyl take a probiotic, the igher CFU's (colony forming units) the better.

* Get onto a probitoic as soon as you can â this will help the actual problem of a bacterial inbalance and will get to work right away. The good bacteria will begin to grow and out-number the bad bacteria.

* Natural live yogurt contains a pro-biotic called acidophilus. However, the level of pro-biotics in yoghurt is quite low, so it can take a little more time to help, which can be frustrating especially if itching is a problem. You can eat the yoghurt as much as you like, some women swear by inserting some plain natural yoghurt into their vagina. You can soak a tampon in natural yoghurt, (differentiate just unsweetened from true natural yoghurt) and insert into the vagina for 2 hours, then change for new one.

* A clove of garlic inserted into your vagina. This is very effective and works quickly. Find out all the details and how toâs here....http://www.midwiferytoday.com/articles/garlic.asp?a=1&r=1&e=1&q=garlic

* Avoid underwear that is tight or contains materials like lycra and other fabric which reduces air circulation â cotton is best. Avoid underwear wherever possible â not a good idea though if you are going to work and wearking a skirt! Around the home and overnight is a good start.

* Avoid tight jeans or trousers where possible â opt for skirts if you can.

* Candida albicans thrive in moist, warm environments so try to avoid long, hot baths.

* Good old Gentian Violet in an aqua or water Base is still extremely effective for vag thrush (just messy & âout thereâ being bright purple) especially good for nipples & babies mouths as it is very liquid and soaks into all the crevices in the tissues which a gel like Daktarin cannot.

* Douching isnât recommended

* Try avoiding yeast â lot of women swear that yeast in their diet increases the growth of candida. Itâs often present in iron tonic supplements so check list of ingredients when taking these.

* High levels of sugar in diets seems to be a very common culprit, look to amending the diet primarily.

Natural Yeast Infection Treatment During Pregnancy?
Q. I'm 33 weeks preg. today and I know infections can cause premature labor this late which is why I need help fast! I was diagnosed w/ a yeast infection and prescribed a 3-day suppository. I've heard 3 day treatments don't work during preg. and that what I was prescribed can cause birth defects (although so rarely it's not considered a risk...not good enough for me). The clinic where I go has proven incompetant many times (I have no other choice, so I really can't do anything but do most of my own research, which is why I ask a lot of questions here), and I don't trust them with this. Are vinegar or baking soda baths safe/effective during pregnancy? Does anyone else know of a non-drug treatment which is safe while pregnant? For those who will attack me, I am not going against doctors' orders and being neglegent...I'm honestly trying to do what's best for my baby's health, which is not always what is advised by these docs. Thanks to everyone who offers advice.

A. Sweetie, listen. when your pregnant your body goes thru so many different changes it crazy but when i was pregnant i did get , a very common in pregnancy, an infection. it was kind of a yeast infection, cause it had all the syptoms but it was and actual "yeast infection" . My obgyn gave me a suppository, just like yours, for 3 days and the infection is gone. I got this infection twice.

My son is 100% health and he's great. Im pretty sure that a doctor or clinic would give you anything that would harm you baby. Believe me when i say that i know what your going through. You want everything to be perfect with your baby. but im pretty sure that what you have is what i had.

take ur medication and it would go away in 3 days.

How much Apple Cider Vinegar in the bath tub for a Yeast Infection.?

Q. I am allergic to the monistat etc, so I looked up home remedies and found that apple cider vinegar works very well. I have read to put it in a warm to hot bath water and bath with it. I bought Braggs organic raw and unfiltered apple cider vinegar with the "mother". They say that works best. How much of the Apple Cider Vinegar do I add to my bath tub water????

A. Fill a bathtub with just enough warm, not hot, water to create a sitz bath (enough water to cover your groin and just up to your belly). Add 2 cups of raw apple cider vinegar and sit in the bath with your knees folded toward your body (not stretched out flat). You can stay in this bath mixture for 15 minutes. Gently pat dry and make sure you are very dry before putting any clothes on. Wear only cotton underpants, preferably washed in natural unscented detergent.

do apple cider vinegar tablets work for yeast infections?
Q. I've done some research and know that apple cider vinegar helps cure yeast infections but do the tablets work for them as well? because I don't have a bathtub to use the remedy for the apple cider vinegar in a tub.
if not, then what works?

A. Not even a little bit. You've been reading quack info.

ACV...is...wait for it.....just vinegar. It's nice tossed on a salad but it is of no medicinal value.

Is apple cider vinegar the best solution for a penile yeast infection (Uncircumcised)?
Q. I got apple cider vinegar

1. Does white vinegar work better?

2. Should it be applied directly to the penis?

A. I have used unfiltered apple cider vinegar for many thinks, internal and external with much success. That said, I have never had the misfortune of a penile yeast infection. For external uses, I use it as a dandruff rinse ever 2 months and it is amazing stuff for that. Have also used it for sunburns. It "seems" like a contradiction to use it in this way, so you will get many naysayers putting their 2 cents in about it.
If you do decide to use it, you would definitely need to DILUTE it! In a very shallow bath (just enough water to cover your part(s), add a cup of apple cider vinegar, and swish the water around for a few minutes... You can easily get up and rinse off if it's too painful. If it's bearable, and one more cup, and just soak for about 30 minutes. Be sure to expose all parts you need to.

Do not use white vinegar... only unfiltered apple cider. I use Braggs Hope you feel better.

How often can one use Apple Cider Vinegar for yeast infections?
Q. Once? Twice? A couple times an hour/day/week?

A. A few times a week, if you are doing it properly. aka, NOT DOUCHING

You can do a sitz bath. This doesn't cure yeast infections but it can relieve symptoms and prevent yeast infections, or bacterial vaginosis. Fill the tub up to your hips, put 2-3 cups of apple cider vinegar in, sit in it for about 20 minutes.

How much distilled white vinegar do u put in the bath to treat yeast infection?

Q. Please help. I'm gonna take a bath with the white distilled vinegar to help treat my yeast infection. I need to know how much I put in there. How full the bath tub should be. Also has anyone tried this? And did it work? Please and thanks!

A. Take lots of acidophilus capsules and wash with water and vinegar with a washcloth rather than a bath of vinegar. Use about 1 cup of vinegar in your laundry and NO fabric softener. Also, it souds gross, but a friend told me about it and it worked quite well (if you catch it soon enough) - put a pad on your panties and coat yourself (within reason) with unflavoured and natural, unsweetened yogurt. If it is bad enough though (the OMG I an't stand this pain!!) then go get some antifungal medication.

How to safely treat yeast infections during pregnancy?
Q. I'm 13 weeks pregnant and went to my midwife today. She just looked and said she thinks i have a yeast infection. She didn't send anything to the lab or anything...She wrote me a prescription for Monistat but since I have Medi-cal , the pharmacy gave me a generic 7-day treatment. On the instructions, it says only use during pregnancy when CLEARLY necessary.

My question is, is it safe to use? How far do I apply the cream?

Also, can it cause miscarriage ? I"m very worried.

A. If you have a yeast infection it's necessary. The generic is the same as the name brand just with a different name. It's safe to take and your midwife WOULD NOT have given you the medicine if not ok to take. Many women get yeast infections in pregnancy and it's MUCH safer and better for both you and the baby to get it cleared up.

What kind of yogurt treats yeast infections?
Q. I believe I may have a yeast infection, and I found out that yogurt can sometimes help treat it. Does it have to be plain yogurt, vanilla yogurt, or will any work? I believe I have some Greek yogurt, but I'm not sure if that will work or not.

A. They say plain unsweetend yogurt. The kind with live and active cultures in it. I get mine from health food stores

I have also tried over the counter medication such as cream and unrinary alkaliniser such as Citravescent but i can't seemed to get rid of yeast infection.
Pls help! I need a permanent cure.

A. Hi Grace,

I was in the exact same position as you about a year ago. I was equally frustrated because on the itch and hated this recurring yeast infection.

I've tried many products from doctor and pharmacists but all efforts failed. Luckily, I came across this product that not only get rid of yeast infection, but also reveal the root cause of the my problem!

Human yeast ear infection at home treatments?

Q. My boyfriend doesn't have health insurance and can't afford medial care.

He has what seems like excessive ear wax, so I took a sample to work (I am a vet tech) and found yeast when I looked at it under the microscope. Does anyone know any over the counter or non-prescription treatments? How can we prevent it from re-occurring?

A. get an over-the-counter antifungal that is made for athletes foot and swab some into the ear. I get yeast infections in my belly button and this works. His ear canal structure must be such that water traps in it easily. He needs to take some cotton balls or something and make sure that his ears are completely dried out when he gets out of the shower.

How do you use garlic for a yeast infection?

Q.

A. You take a piece and insert it into ur vagina overnight I think garlic stinks. Use plain yogurt its much better take a tampon dip it into the yogurt and insert it overnight until yeast is fully gone.

Can garlic get lost in your vagina while doing the treatment for a yeast infection?
Q. No need for more detail..it's a yes or no question =]

A. Things can't really get lost in the vagina. There is no where for it to go really. But why are you putting garlic into your vagina? If you have a vaginal yeast infection, you might try an anti-yeast preparation such as Canesten. You could also try using natural LIVE yoghurt. This needs to be introduced into the vagina with either a tampon or syringe (without the needle!). The key is not the yogurt itself but the bacteria, lactobacillus acidophilus, in the yogurt. This helps the body maintain, or regain, its natural pH level.

Has anyone tried the garlic clove in vagina for candida/yeast infection?
Q. If yes, how did you do it and did it burn a lot???
I'm currently on my period and need a solution to this yeast infection fast! It's getting very irritating

A. Just buy a cream from your pharmacy dear, it's really not good to mixture with home remedies like this, especially not as the garlic probably would only burn your already irritated vagina & mucus membranes.

To the person below, NEVER use salt on your vagina as this will dry it out & might cause permanent damage. Salt is EXTREMELY drying & is used to dry out foods, now imagine putting this in contact with your sensitive mucus membranes. Don't do it.

If it's also internal you'll also need a pill that you insert at nighttime. But go to a gynocologist & either by a cream over the counter, or have a stronger one perscripted to you.

a garlic clove is used for curing yeast infections but is there a posibility of it getting stuck?
Q.

A. I wouldn't recommend sticking food into your vagina. As it rots it will cause all sorts of happy problems that will send you to your gyn.

does anyone know if Solodyn antibiotic for skin causes yeast infections commonly?

Q. i've been on this pill, Solodyn, precribed by my dermatologist for a couple of months and he prescribed it for another 2 months today. i've lately been feeling like i have to pee alot and i don't i don't know if that is something to do with it?
any ideas?
it burns a little.

A. Yeast infections sometimes occur with any antibiotic. The antibiotic kills off the bacteria in the infection (that's what it is supposed to do). But with the bacteria gone, any yeast cells can grow without competition. You might want to read this Web page, which mentions this issue with respect to Solodyn.
http://doublecheckmd.com/EffectsDetail.do?sid=82059&eid=2806&dname=Solodyn

On the other hand, frequent urination is not a common effect of Solodyn. If anything, it is likely to make you go less frequently.

Bottom line: you need to tell your doctor what is happening. He may want to treat you for a yeast infection as well. Call the doctor's office and tell them your concerns. Good luck!!

I have a scottish terrier that has what I believe to be a yeast infection on his skin.?
Q. He has lost patches of hair with scabby sores, is very itchy all over, and his coat has become very greasy. He does not have an odor though. I took him to my vet who said it was fungal and gave me a medicated shampoo, the problem is that after two weeks, I am not seeing much of an improvement. Does anyone have any suggestions that may have been through this with their dog?
the vet did a scraping and checked for mites, there were none, but he said he did see fungal organisms

A. They can get skin infections which are caused by bacteria or yeast. If the dog is clear for demodex then you probably just have a skin infection. Sometimes they will have allergies and from the itching they will get a secondary infection. You need to get the itching taken care of so you can get the skin cleared up. It sounds like you need a antihistamine and something for the infection. There are a few different types of meds for skin so it depends on what type of infection it is. Yeast can be a little tough to take care of, but with the right meds it shouldn't be a problem.

Please dont feed ol Roy. There is excellent dog food on the market for allergies and I would go for one of those. Your vet will have Rx diets or you can pick them up from petco or petsmart. I like Natural Balance Duck and Potato, Proplan Sensitive skin and stomach (Salmon), Pinnacle Trout and Sweet Potato, Wellness Allergies, also if you try a allergies diet you cant do anything other those indigents. If you feed a venison diet than you cant feed chicken based treats. Stay away from corn, chicken, beef, and all by-products.

Can a skin yeast infection of a dog be contagious to other dogs?
Q.

A. No. Yeast infections of the skin, or of any kind, are not contagious to other dogs/animals/humans.

Can a prolong yeast infection untreated cause the outside skin around your labia turn pink?
Q. I work at a military base and the water is not the same as in the states so could this water be a cause or effect?
Should I be very concerned?. There is no discharge. I will be traveling in 5 months for a check up. Is that too long to wait. I am a black lady over 60yrs.
Thank

A. Untreated yeast infection can be a cause.

Since yeast infection is caused by harmonal imbalance, which basically means the ph factor in your body is not balanced. This is caused by bacteria.

The ph factor can vary depending on the food you eat and water is a part of our food intake.

Just varying the kinds of food you eat on a daily basis can help in treating the yeast infection. Be proactive, its your body.

can anyone explain why hiv causes more frequent yeast infections in women?

Q. it doesn't seem like getting a yeast infection has anything to do with how weak of strong your immune system is.

A. A yeast infection, like ringworm, jock itch, and athletes' foot is caused by a fungus. In the case of a yeast infection, women have this fungus growing in their vaginas most of the time, but when that fungus begins to grow out of control, you get a yeast infection.
Your body has natural defenses against fungi such as this, but when your immune system is compromised, your body doesn't have the resources to fight the fungal infection.

A. if you have an infection you can pass it on he should see a doctor

If you have dental problems is it possible to cause a yeast infection in a woman?
Q.

A. I've never heard of dental problems causing a yeast infection. If you're taking anti-biotics for the dental issues, anti-biotics can cause a yeast infection in some women. Ask your doctor if you're unsure.

Is is normal for a woman to get a yeast infection twice in one month?
Q. I had a yeast infection a few weeks ago due to IV antibiotics administered to me at the hospital, and I treated it with a seven day yeast infection cream. Today, I found out that my yeast infection came back. I'm a little overweight but no diabetes. Should I be concerned that I have it again? Should I go to the ER?

A. Maybe you need another course of antibiotics or a different one. It's okay to have it again.

Just means that the medicine didn't clear up the first one. Call your doctor and see if they can prescribe something to the pharmacy.

Will grapefruit seed extract work to cure bacterial vaginosis?

Q. I don't want to take the Metronidazole that was prescribed to be because of the side effects that I have a history of. Does grapefruit seed extract work to cure this? How much/how do I use this? If not, are there any other natural remedies that will work?

Thanks!

A. No. Natural remedies generally won't work on bacterial infections, despite all their bogus and unproven claims. Stick to scientifically proven medicine, not alternative medicine nonsense. Tell your doctor you have had a history of side effects with that particular antibiotic, and they can prescribe you a different one. Real medical doctors have undergone years of studying biology, chemistry, physiology, pathology etc etc and respect science, experiment, evidence and clinical trials, whereas naturopaths, and other alternative medicine claimants, are not required to learn such knowledge, and instead rely on unverified anecdotes and hearsay.

Is it possible my gynecologist missed the bacterial vaginosis?
Q. I thought I had the symptoms but my doctor said she didn't find it and couldn't smell anything. Is it possible that she missed it or that the test was wrong? Should I ask for another test?

A. If your doctor performed the test and it came up negative, I would go with that. If you are still not sure, or want to try and rule out something else, I would suggest going to the drug store and picking up one of those home self tests from Vagisil.

Do the bacterial vaginosis e-books really work?
Q. I've been trying to do research on ways to treat and prevent BV and I keep coming across e-books for remedies to cure BV naturally within 3 days. I haven't found any useful reviews because every site that I've been directed to just seems interested in pushing readers to buy the book. Is there anyone who knows a little more information on these e-books? I would like to read a REAL review.

A. I completely understand your question. My answer is don't waste money on the e-books because those people are only trying to get your money, honey. I have been suffering from Bacterial Vaginosis for over a year. I have scoured the internet searching for a solution to my problem. My GYNO was no help when she told me that it was stress related. How can someone not be stressed out when they have discharge and smell like nasty fish. Anyway, I have tried everything from Acidiphilous pills, to douching with hydrogen peroxide, to using unscented Dove soap. Nothing worked at all. I ran across reviews on Amazon for Fem-dophilus. These women were raving about this product. It's a pill forumulated with only the good bacteria for vaginal health. I have been taking them vaginally, and they are great. The bottle says approved by the FDA to take orally, but it wasn't working as well when I was only taking them orally. I ran across this website http://www.jarrow.com/Dr-Reid-0 for a scientific answer as to why inserting them vaginally works better. Be sure to check out slides 6-9. I hope this helps you out.

Can bacterial vaginosis cause fatigue and an overall feeling of malaise?
Q. I have these symptoms each time (about 1-2 times a year). It is an infection, so I was just wondering if anyone else had these symptoms. They clear up along with the vaginosis in a few days of taking clindamycin. The symptoms come before the medication, so they're not from the medication.

A. The symptoms of bacterial vaginosis are vaginal discharge and odor. Usually, there are no other symptoms. The amount of vaginal discharge that is considered normal varies from woman to woman. Therefore, any degree of vaginal discharge that is abnormal for a particular woman should be evaluated.

Many women with bacterial vaginosis actually have no symptoms at all. Others experience an unpleasant fishy odor with vaginal discharge. The discharge is usually thin and grayish white. The discharge is often more noticeable after sexual intercourse.

How long does it take to Cure Cure Bacterial Vaginosis With Apple Cider Vineger ?

Q. Can someone please tell me how long it takes to cure a bacterial vaginosis with apple cider vinegar. I also wanted to know how does this happen. I clean down there with different types of soaps could that be a reason why it get irritated.

A. The reality is...there are NO studies to prove that apple cider vinegar can be used to treat this condition. NONE. All so-called "evidence" is based on anecdotal theories at best. I'm not sure how you are using this vinegar, but I would suggest to stop wasting your time.

Clearly, the best and most reliable treatment is typically with a medication called "Metrogel Vaginal," or "Clindesse." The advantage of the latter, is that it is a one time treatment. The vaginal applications for MetroGel are usually 5-7 nights.

Yes, many soaps can be VERY irritating to the vaginal flora, and it is best to use something mild/neutral. I typically recommend Dove or Ivory. You should try to wash "inside" the vaginal canal either. Avoid soaps that are "antibacterial" in nature as well. As well, you should NEVER douche, or take "bubble baths," as these will upset the flora and precipitate a B.V. infection.

Talk to your doctor or provider of care about this. Leave the vinegar for your next salad instead.

Best of luck!

Do i still continue to take my bacterial vaginosis medication if i start my period?
Q. I just got the antibiotics from my doctor today. You take two pills a day and I took one and then my period started. Does it matter if my period starts?I should just keep taking my anitibiotics right?

I also have some rephresh tampons. They're supposed to restore your ph and keep the bacteria vaginosis away. My doctor recommended I use their produtcs.. will it be a bad idea to use the tampons at the same time of the medication?

A. Yes continue your medication- it is ok to use tampons provided you change them at regular intervals. At the end of your cycle do not forget to remove the tampon. You will be surprised (shocked) to know that left over tampons in the vagina is the single most common cause of vaginal infections in women.
In addition to medicines it may be useful if you make use of a few natural remedies to eliminate the root cause of bacterial vaginosis and restore pH balance of your vagina. You can start

* Eating yogurt which has live cultures in it. Making use of yogurt for vaginal application is also very effective

* Taking garlic supplements every day

What are some early symptoms of bacterial vaginosis?
Q. I was just treated for bv about a month ago, and it had started out with intense itching followed by abnormal discharge and foul fishy smell. So I know what the symptoms are. But just now I just noticed a fishy smell again, not as intense but still there. I dont know if during certain times of the menstrual cycle the vagina has different kinds of smells, or if this fishy smell is an early sign that my bv has returned.

A. Women with bacterial vaginosis (BV) may have an abnormal vaginal discharge with an unpleasant odor. Some women report a strong fish-like odor, especially after intercourse.

Discharge, if present, is usually white or gray; it can be thin. Women with BV may also have burning during urination or itching around the outside of the vagina, or both. Some women with BV report no signs or symptoms at all.

I would recommend getting back in touch with your doctor to see what he/she says. They may need to run some tests to give you a proper diagnosis and treatment.

Good luck :)

What are some home remedies to get rid of bacterial vaginosis for good?

Do home remedies for Bacterial Vaginosis really work?

Q. I want to know if the home remedies really work before I try them. If they do, which one is the most effective?

A. Nope, but metronidazole or intravaginal clindamycin will though.

Oh, edit. @ Mr E: Stop lying.

" the cause isn't local, it's systemic- blood sugar imbalance from nerve interference. sure, the medical mickey mouse approach might knock down the symptoms, but they'll keep coming back if you fail to deal with the cause. see an hio method chiropractor and get better the only way-naturally."

Now you've completely lost it. Evidence for anything in your answer please.

Is it possible for bacterial vaginosis to heal completely without taking antibiotics?
Q. Over time (bodily defenses), Certain diet, remedies maybe?

A. You can use yogurt, probiotics, and garlic. Antibiotics kill off the good bacteria that helps fight off bacterial vaginosis.

There are other natural cures that you can use to. I found a blog that explained some of cures to use.

I'll leave a link to the blog below.

How long after taking medication for bacterial vaginosis will symptoms subside?
Q. I started taking Metronidazole on Friday, and it is a 7 day, twice daily treatment. I just wanted to know how long until I will notice my symptoms subside. Also, how long until it is safe to have sex again?

A. Normally you will have to fishing the treatment course after which the problem will disappear. Your symptoms will start subsiding after taking medicines for 4-5 days.

the thing about bacterial vaginosis antibiotics is that it provides only symptomatic relief. It does not eliminate the root cause of the infection. Medicines do nothing to restore the vaginal pH imbalance which is the main cause of vaginosis. Hence in almost 70% of women who take antibiotics the problem reappears within months if not weeks. Bacterial vaginosis natural cures is an excellent alternative for total and complete bv cure. These cures work to restore the vaginal pH balance and hence provide permanent bv cure.

Lastly it is advisable to abstain from sex at least for a week after your infection goes away. After a week also ensure to have protected sex and make use of condoms.

What are some home remedies to get rid of bacterial vaginosis for good?

What is an all natural way to cure bacterial vaginosis?
Q. Doctors usually prescribe a medication like Metronidizole tablets or vaginal gel, and I've heard that a tea tree oil douche helps with preventing it, but are there other natural remedies to cure or prevent this unusual feminine infection?

A. You can douche with half water, half hydrogen peroxide because the natural bacteria in your vagina produces hydrogen peroxide. (cool huh?) Megadoses of vitamin C seems to be helpful. YOu can take as many grams as it takes to bring you to the brink of diarrhea. www.doctoryourself.com. I just found this site and I'm trying the vitamin C myself....These two things have seemed to almost stop my symptoms.....I just started the vitamin C and I'm hopeful. I've tried the tea tree oil and it just manages the symptoms. You can spend much money trying to find the right natural cure for you. I"m hopeful this is going to work for me. Good luck

What is bacterial vaginosis? How do you treat it. ?
Q. Is it a seriously infection can it make you infertil or cause cancer?

A. Bacterial Vaginosis is a vaginal infection, one of the most common in the field. There has been some debate as to whether or not it is considered to be a sexually transmitted disease. The experts say no but the infection usually happens right after you have sex with a brand new person. But in the medical community, Bacterial Vaginosis is not a sexually transmitted disease. The condition is caused by an imbalance in the bacterial flora. Though many people tend to think that Bacterial Vaginosis is a yeast infection and they may start to self treat for it but they are two different things.

Some of the symptoms and signs of Bacterial Vaginosis could be an abnormal discharge from the vagina and along with the discharge is a fishy type of odor. There may be some burning and itching but please keep in mind that every woman is different and the signs and symptoms may not be the same. Some women may experience abdominal pains and others donât. Before you can start treatment you have to be diagnosed by a medical doctor. Bacterial Vaginosis is not something that you want to ignore or mistreat. It could cause infertility and pre-term labor.

You may have to answer some very uncomfortable questions when it comes to your medical exam. The doctor may ask you if the discharge is normal, some women experience a discharge from time to time and have considered it to be normal. The doctor may ask about your sex life so prepared to answer these questions honestly, if you leave something out it may affect your treatment.

In addition to these questions, the doctor will have to do a pelvic exam. Then they will run the results by a lab and see what if any bacteria is present. These exams are good ideas, this way you can rule out a lot of other conditions such as yeast infections and vaginal thrush. Once you have been diagnosed with the condition you may want to know what caused it.

There may be an imbalance in the bodyâs pH levels and that could have been cause by taking an antibiotic for another condition. Sometimes when the pH is not normal, it can cause bacteria and depending on the person, it could spread a lot and form Bacterial Vaginosis and sometimes not. The condition sometimes happens when you are pregnant and will often disappear after pregnancy. As we mentioned it is not considered to be a sexually transmitted disease, the most often cause is sex.

Though when pre-teen girls are diagnosed with Bacterial Vaginosis, it is said that the reason may be from Strep or by another bacteria from the anus. This is brought on by lack of hygiene from bathroom behavior. There are some serious complications that can occur if you donât take care of the problem right away. You may experience pre-term labor or Pelvic Inflammatory Disease and even Infertility. If you suspect that you have Bacterial Vaginosis or any other problem stemming from the vaginal area, contact your doctor right away.
