How do i know if my daughter has yeast infection or regular dipper rash?

Q.

A. Smell, if she is grabbing at her privates a lot, if there is yellow discharge around her privates then it is probably a yeast infection. or treat her for diaper rash if it doesn't go away...yeast infection

Have you used an OTC product to cure diaper rash caused by a yeast infection?
Q. I was wondering if anyone has used an OTC product to cure diaper rash caused by a yeast infection? I've been reading up on otc fungal treatments, and found them to be quite interesting. Has anyone had good results? Please no rude answers, thank you.

A. I used a prescription cream, but it was basically Canesten with a small amount of hydrocordisone powder mixed in (the pharmacist actually misread the prescription and showed me the canesten on the shelf, before I pointed out the HC powder part of the RX). It worked pretty well, took a few days to fully clear up, but started improving right after the first application.

How do you know when a diaper rash has turned into a yeast infection?
Q.

A. You may not be able to detect yeast in a subtle diaper rash, but once it's full blown you can usually tell a yeast infection (versus a plain old diaper rash) because the rash will be well defined and beefy red, with slightly raised borders and "satellite" lesions (red lesions a slight distance from the main rash). Your child's skin may also be scaly.

Another big clue: A yeast rash tends to hang around for more than two days and doesn't respond to any traditional diaper rash treatments. It also usually shows up in the skin folds of the groin area.

When a yeast infection is brought under control inside the body do external symptoms (rash) also subside?
Q. Or can one get an external yeast rash and NOT have an internal overgrowth in the digestive system?

A. One can get an external yeast rash and NOT have an internal overgrowth in the digestive system. External yeast overgrowth is common given the right conditions. To have overgrowth in the digestive system takes suppression of the immune system.
